Kanye finishes his album at the last minute, a thread
Yeezus- Rick Rubin was brought in 3 weeks before the album was set to release to help get it done on time. Kanye recorded vocals for half of the tracks two days before the deadline, in the two hours before he left for Milan. It was the last bit of time Ye had to work on it.
Kids See Ghosts- The collab album between Ye and Cudi needed an entire verse for the opening track... 8 hours before the album's deadline. Ye called Pusha T asking him to write and record the verse before he performed at his concert. The album dropped only hours late.
Jesus Is King- Set to drop at midnight of Oct 25th, the album still wasn't out. (Despite Kanye saying it was out, live on Jimmy Kimmel) Ye tweets that some final mixing is being done, and we'd get it shortly. The album dropped around 12pm EST that day.
ye- The entire album was put together in 2 weeks. Ghost Town was being finished the day before the album dropped. On the way to the listening party, Kanye was recording lines into his iPhone, which he sent to Mike Dean to have them put on tracks. The cover taken on the way there.
808s & Heartbreak- The last piece of 808s was the album cover. Created by taking pictures of heart-shaped items and Ye choosing his favorite, the cover not being completed would have meant the album releasing months later due to iTunes deadline.
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy- One of the greatest verses on the album was rewritten the day of the deadline. Kanye knew Rick Ross had the potential to make an outstanding verse, and brought him to New York to craft one. It is widely regarded as one of Ross's best verses.
