and THAT is a huge deal as well. I want to ask my white followers advocating against Kamala to look deep and take it seriously that they’re holding a Black, Asian-American woman to standards that no white man has ever before been held for this office https://twitter.com/elienyc/status/1293296440677142532
This is an instance where you’re playing “color blind”.
“I’d hold any candidate to the same standards, no matter their race or gender!”
I think that’s wrong.
I know that’s controversial.
In the US, white men made the rules. Kamala, as a prosecutor, played by those rules. She did what she could as a Black woman to break barriers there, but she wasn’t all- powerful. Expecting her to have been perfect in a role created for white men, by white men
It’s insulting. It’s naive. You don’t believe that BlPOC, that women in the US in these barrier-breaking positions are held at a higher standards? Smfh.
Personally, I believe that we should do everything in our power to facilitate diversity in the White House.
I kept typing and retyping this thread and it didn’t come out how I wanted to bc it kept going way too long
