i manifested a whole farm... sorry not sorry, still not over it. wow
food has always been an important part of my life. my southern grandma taught me how to navigate in a kitchen and my mom has always been on her #plantbased+ herbal medicine wave. i knew my journey wouldn't be complete without space to grow my own food 🌱👩🏾‍🌾 https://twitter.com/plantbasedvibes/status/1204393602929057793?s=21 https://twitter.com/plantbasedvibes/status/1204393602929057793
i comitted to #vegetarian in high school, veganism around 24 and now at 31 i've been red meat, poultry and raw dairy free for 15 years.

after experiencing the worst anxiety and depression while working in music business, i left the industry to focus on me -
i focused on clean eating, cooking healthy means for my kid, cooking for my family and friends.

i was an unhealthy vegetarian for years. i knew that played a role in keeping me in that low vibrational space; i knew i would have to intentionally focus on my diet to really change.
in 2015 i catered my first event in dc. i was really missing the music scene and the new generation stepping in ( @surrealistma, @sednahhh & others ) really inspired me to come back to art. art makes me happy. food makes me happy. 🌱 #plantbasedvibes was born around this time
2015 was wild. a terrible relationship ended. i went through a forced eviction with kyanitevibes while building #greenwithin. but! i also met my man (after following each other for 6 years) cuz he was pullin up buying food from me 🥺 (love you, babe). #foodislove
2016 i created a curriculum and taught a #plantbased creative cooking class at a school in #dc. we went grocery shopping, made meals, talked about nutrition and how to shop in a food desert. i'm "self taught". this was a huge confirmation & accomplishment for me.
since then i've had a really rough pregnancy, and hit all types of really low lows and UH-mazing highs.

cooking for my family, friends and community, educating people, helping people has really kept me focused and afloat.

no matter whats going on, i'm was always in the kitchen
i'm telling you, once you commit to a life that evolves around your relationship with your food/health, you WILL find yourself in a garden. i've always wanted a community garden. there is freedom&power in growing your own food & feeding your community. https://twitter.com/plantbasedvibes/status/337322437228240896?s=21 https://twitter.com/plantbasedvibes/status/337322437228240896
now, i help manage a #communitygarden in #se dc, where we provide #garden spaces for families in the dc area. it's been about 2 years. we currently have potatoes, tomatoes, carrots & other veggies + we're building a #sensory area with @JayeRell & her sun. #ward7
ive partnered with @AbundantLfMrkt to help provide the #dmv area with fresh local #organic produce. in less than 2 months we've gifted free #grocery bags to over 50 dc families & now we're working on this amazing farm, growing our own produce for the mobile market & community. 🌱
all the love to @RealMalcomEd, he's been working hard on #greenwithin.

the vision: creating sustainable food opportunities for underserved dc residents through organic agriculture and plant based food education.

accessibility. community dinners. homeschool classes. gardening.
so yeah, like i said... never give up on your dreams. focus on your health. focus on what you're putting in and around yourself. be conscious of what you're doing with your time and energy. be conscious what you're thinking and saying. promise you can make it happen if i can. 💚
