A lot is happening and small things can be forgotten, especially if they go unremarked. So I want to publish a remembrance -- of sorts -- to the inexplicably disappeared @Hefty #gripper trash bag. #heftygripper #unsolvedmysteries
The @Hefty #gripper was a simple fix to a common frustration: a trash bag with an elastic drawstring around the mouth. So it fit snugly around any trash can, and was easily tied when it was full. Simple. But for those who are easily annoyed, like myself, it was a revelation.
They were hard to find this spring -- but lots of cleaning products were. I had a big box of @Hefty #gripper bags, others needed them more and I wasn't worried. https://twitter.com/jansena21/status/1264642371595231234?s=20
But then, the @Hefty #gripper bags seemed to disappear altogether. https://twitter.com/SimpleLogic/status/1272793516687732736?s=20
Why would any company shelve such a breakthrough, innovative product? And if they took such an extraordinary step, wouldn't they announce it? But if you go to the @Hefty site tonight and search "gripper," you get exactly zero returns.
So a lot of us have questions, @Hefty. 1) What happened to the #gripper? 2) Why no explanation for the apparent disappearance? 3) Are they coming back? 4) If not, why not? Thank you in advance for your help.
UPDATE: I called Reynolds Consumer Products Customer Response Team, who said @Hefty #gripper bags "have been temporarily discontinued." They "hope to have them back in production the end of September." The rep declined to provide any further explanation.
This leads me to give incrementally more credence to @mattdelong's theories.
