Senator Harris was previously a prosecutor that was part of a large system of mass incarceration. She has since been one of the most fiercely progressive liberal votes in the senate. 1/

Without absolving her of any criticism and before everyone lines up and takes their turn dunking on the VP pick, please consider your own thoughts about prison abolition and defunding the police in 2010 (when Harris became California’s AG) 2/

Instead of condemning Senator Harris for not being Angela Davis, thank the leaders and activists for educating people like Kamala (a powerful piece of the mass incarceration machine) to now support defunding the police and refunding the communities hurt by mass incarceration. 3/
