1. The disconnect between her criticisms of society and who she thinks is primarily responsible for those problems.
2. CF& #39;s desire to paint Edelgard as morally gray as they can by (spoilers again), making Rhea/the church seem like the least guilty party, mishandling Dimitri& #39;s

battle by relegating him to just a boss fight/coming off as overly pompous and dismissive towards his very understandable feelings against her & lying about what happened in Arianrhod to her friends when she should be able to trust them now. Last & least the writers not letting
Byleth really have a strong opinion on continuing to seek help from Arundel, the man... pretty responsible for Jeralt being killed.
3. Edelgard not really having a strong foil/nemesis. This kinda falls into my first thing. You& #39;d think that Edelgard& #39;s anger towards Arundel/TWSITD

the guys who tortured her, her dad and her siblings, would culminate into some grand battle where after defeating Rhea (lol let& #39;s make her crazy by making her burn the castle now!), but its sidelined and saved for after the game ends. If Rhea pulled some darker stuff,
Like when she executed those Western Church guys?Maybe she captures Ladislava/Randolph, holds them hostage for byleth, but kills them anyway? If you& #39;re committed to "Rhea crazy" Maybe she attacks the smaller empire territories with Golems and kills innocents? idk it could work?
Anyway, bc I know there are hard defenders of Edelgard who I hope are still reading this thread. I think she is otherwise a really good character. There& #39;s a lot to say of the formative experience in her life that led to her ambition
as well as how she plans to go about it and how justifiable it is vs Dimitri& #39;s or Claude& #39;s plan. Not to mention, there are 3 other stories which characterize her pretty well. And there are even moments in CF which show us how she feels about herself and her own actions.
And lastly, her supports describe someone who, while intimidating and overbearing at times, is open to self-improvement and others critcizing her. She& #39;s also really adorable and endearing sometimes???

because CF crapped the bed a lot. There& #39;s a LOT more important discussion to be had about her and I think exploring a main character who is willing to get her hands dirty is makes her stand-out character, not some bad person. Her being shady like... contributes to why I like her?
Giant thread over. I& #39;m probably going to keep tweeting about Edelgard about random thoughts about her as I record footage and write the script because lmao i do this all the time.
