A thread of Haikyuu characters that you, anitiktok I'm looking at you, and anitwt too, misinterpret and mischaracterize. I'm tired of seeing hate on them. This isn't to change your opinions on them, just letting you be aware of WHY they're targeted and hated on.
First off, Oikawa. Stop I am begging to you STOP reducing him to a petty brat who went inter. only to beat Kags and Ushi. He went to hone his skills as a player. He is a perfect all-rounder and not just some crybaby you all make him to be. +
He is so much more than what you see. If you read the manga, the reason he acts the way he is bc of his inferiority complex to players like Kags n Ushi. Imagine working your ass off just for people to call you petty and a bad player. Everyone respects him, whether you +
like it or not. Kageyama, who is playing for a world renowned team, STILL has utmost respect for Oikawa. If Kageyama, someone who saw Oikawa as his rival and a mentor, can respect Oikawa, so can you.
Next up, this man. I know he's kind of popular but let's see what y'all reduce him to: A man with no personality, a rude person, and overall an asshole. All incorrect. So what if he's an introvert? That's what makes him a good character. Yes his words towards Oikawa were less +
than friendly, but think about it. Ushi's had to work hard his entire life to get where he is now. He's left handed, which already put him at a disadvantage for the sport that he loved. Not to mention, he worked so hard only for his coach to tell him that he wouldn't be able +
to do what national players did ALL BC he was left-handed. And his own MOTHER, who wanted to get rid of his left-handed ness bc she thought it was a flaw of his. But he used their negativity to sharpen his skills on the court, and that's why he's such a good player. +
He isn't just cold. He has a personality, it's there. He's just quiet and reserved. What's wrong with that? His personality doesn't fit in with the rest of the characters, but he's still such a unique character and I would love it if y'all saw him past his "Oikawa's enemy" label.
Next up, not a hated character but definitely mischaracterized. I am SICK AND TIRED of you all reducing him to a sex god. Kuroo is so much more than that. Yes he's hot but you've just surfaced his looks, not his personality.
Kuroo is such an amazing captain, if not one of my favorites. He constantly boosts his teammates moral, looks out for them, and loves everyone. His occupation now is fitting for him, because yes he stopped playing volleyball, but he still loves it deeply. +
He chose his job because he understands others' love for it, and he wants to do something to connect people, just like he got Kenma to enjoy volleyball. He WANTS people to love volleyball, just like he loves it. Kuroo is an amazing person overall, stop reducing him to nothing.
This man is arguably the most hated HQ!! character and even as an Atsumu stan I have to agree. Let's see what y'all have called him: A rat, an obstacle between KageHina, annoying, Bratsumu, Sangwoo, a trashy man, and so much more. Why?
Let's talk abt why y'all hate him sm. Is it because he's "in the way" of your ship? Boo hoo. Is it because he "acts" unfitting and cocky like Oikawa? Sorry to burst your bubble but he has ALL RIGHTS to when he's won the best setter and best server award. +
But that aside, please stop reducing him to nothing. Atsumu is a well-created character, a complex one. Yes his personality might not be liked, but think about WHY he is this way. Why? Is it because he's grown him with a twin so he feels the need to always compete? +
Maybe. But Atsumu is so much more. He loves his teammates, even if the way he shows love is not typical. He deeply cares for them, he respects Kita and Aran deeply, and loves his brother sm. If you saw past the anime, you'd know Atsumu is just an onigiri loving f̶u̶r̶r̶y̶ dork.
Next up: Ok I will confess he's not my cup of tea. But that doesn't mean I'll constantly shit on him like you. Tsuki, I think, is a well-written complex character. He's one of the characters who at first, doesn't take volleyball seriously. And now look at him! Playing +
for a professional league, I love him. I've seen WAYYY too many "salty" Tsukishima jokes when sighs, it's just his personality. He's the reason he is because he found out the one man who he trusted, the one man he wanted to play volleyball for, lied to him. He's heartbroken +
and honestly, I would be to. He doesn't take vb seriously bc of Akiteru. But he's grown. Tsukishima is so much more than just your salty tsuki jokes. He loves volleyball now, because he found the thrill for it. Before, he didn't understand why +
people like Hinata took the sport so seriously. But no, since he's found the thrill of it and what it means to be a vb player, he's playing! I love this for him, because it only means he's grown a lot and changed as a person. We love character developement :D
Next is my baby Bo yes I know surprise surprise but he's been mischaracterized by the fandom too much and I'm here to address it: STOP REDUCING HIM TO 1/2 OF BOKUAKA. Stop calling him stupid, someone who can't do anything outside of vb, and someone of incompetence.
Bokuto probably is so so mischaracterized bc all you see of him is BOKUAKA BOKUAKA BOKUAKA. You're wrong. Bokuto is an amazing person, someone with the biggest heart I know, someone with so much love for himself and his friends, I love him. +
Let's talk: why is he captain? People say he's incompetent to be captain bc of his personality. But did you ever stop to think, why did Furudate make him captain? Because he fits the title. He deserves it. Fukurodani can clearly see that even with his fluctuations of moods, +
He's someone they can completely trust on. He's reliable, and they love him. He's their captain because they know no matter what, he'll always be there to support them and love them. +
Take chapters 334-337. He was on top of his game. After, he comforted Akaashi for not playing well in the first set. This is a perfect example that he isn't just stupid. He truly cares for his teammates. And most of all, when Fukurodani were SCARED Akaashi wasn't going +
to win, Bokuto shrugged them off saying he trusted Akaashi enough to get his head back in the game. See? He KNOWS his teammates worth, he KNOWS they're strong, and that's what I love abt him. Bokuto knows that with him and his teammates, they're undefeatable.
Next is my baby. In short: Please stop reducing him to half of IwaiOi. He's a wonderful human being, so loving, so kind, and so inspirational. Iwaizumi is beyond talented, and his personality is what makes him so cool +
He isn't just someone who hits Oikawa. He's someone who's willing to sacrifice everything for his teammates and friends, someone that is EXTREMELY reliable. Also, Iwaizumi is emotional and that's ok. Stop making him to be emotionless. He can cry.
This one is for anitiktok: FUCK YOU. I will NEVER, NEVER understand y'alls hatred for this beautiful and talented girl. She has done SO MUCH for the team, and I will forever be grateful to her for doing so. +
She isn't just your obstacle between Tsukiyama or Kagehina. When we first saw her, Yachi was extremely insecure about her abilities, but when she met the team, that changed. Yachi who got out of her comfort zone to try something, to make a difference. +
Yachi who is always supporting our boys. Yachi who stayed their manager and went to their games to support them even if she was busy. She loves the boys, and I'm so so thankful for her character. She's done so much, contributed so much, and I love her for that.
Let's set one thing straight: Yamaguchi is NOT useless. He is NOT 1/2 of Tsukiyama. Nishinoya did NOT fake missing his jump float serve. Yamaguchi is Yamaguchi, his own character. +
Y'all love to hate him for no reason. Unlike the rest of the characters, he was left alone with no one. No mentor, no acknowledgement for his skills, nothing. So instead of quitting, he went out and sought out for his own growth. He chose to grow, he +
decided he had enough of being left out, and I love him for that. He got nothing, but still found the motivation to continue playing volleyball. Yes he's soft spoken and doesn't contribute much, but his skills are USEFUL. +
Yamaguchi became captain, even when all odds were against him and y'all called him a weak cry baby. His growth is something I deeply respect and admire him for. His character development is AMAZING and I'm glad Furudate gave us him.
Do not perceive me if I see a Hoshiumi anti I'll block you. You LOVE LOVE to reduce him to nothing but Hinata's enemy. Let me explain why yes you are correct but your misinterpretation of him is gross and only harms his reputation.
Let's talk about this scene. Here, idc what you say but think about it. Not ONCE has he stated he wanted to win against Hinata. He said WE, as in HIM AND HINATA. He doesn't want to win on the court alone against Hinata, he wants to win WITH Hinata by his side. +
Hoshiumi is constantly misinterpreted for being someone Hinata doesn't like, but he's so much more. He was waiting for Hinata all these years, so they could play together IM CRYING RN. Hoshiumi isn't just some crazy rival of Hinata's, he's someone who wants to conquer the court +
With Hinata and I love him for that. All his life, he was told he was inferior and would never play in volleyball. Look at him now! We love character development, so let's talk more abt Hoshiumi and appreciate him for the amazing man he is.
Ok let's talk abt my baby Aran. He is not just your POC character in HQ. Stop reducing him as the black character in HQ, and stop saying "Aran is so underrated". If he's underrated, talk about him more. I love him and his personality +
overall. He's so so patient, so amazing, and admirable as a player. Why is it that when we talk about top aces, Aran is always discluded? I'm not going to speak on that but stop and think. Aran is a well-rounded character, someone that should DEFINITELY get more +
recognition for his skill, not for his skin color. Aran is so cute, so funny, and overall just a lovable character like come on you just CAN'T find a valid reason to hate on him when he's so so amazing and talented.
While on this topic as well let's talk abt these two fine men who are all-rounders and yet it's absolute crickets when y'all talk abt their team. Let's stop this and appreciate them
God I have a whole 10 page essay on this man's mischaracterization but in short: He is NOT just the creepy guy from HQ!!. This man is absolutely talented, and his growth is something I adore. +
He was told he couldn't play volleyball bc of his looks, and now look at him in high school. He's the definition of hardworking, someone who used people's negativity towards him to tear him down as a weapon. I love him for this.

Let's talk abt setters (1) y'all fail to recognize are tactician monsters. Yes they aren't monsters in physical strength, but in analytical skills? Undefeated. Absolutely. Can analyze scenes quickly, choose the best outcome, and always never fail to amaze me with their brains.
Setters (2) Semi Eita is a monster pinch server, and Shirabu is someone all of Shiratorizawa trust to play with. Nothing more needs to be said because their skills are off the charts. AND STOP CALLING SEMI A BENCH WARMER I'LL FIND YOU.
Ok last character because I'm going to make another thread for this but stop Tanaka discrimination 2020 !! This man is absolutely amazing I have utmost respect for him. He is so nice, so funny +
