the leafs enter the arena to play their home opener against the habs. they step onto the ice and they're immediately run over by bolts and jackets players, who are still in game 1 ot. john tortorella is yelling at pierre-luc dubois for the fifth day in a row.

"block a fucking shot for once", he yells. but the blue jackets have already blocked thousands of shots. it's not enough. tortorella makes them bag skate at intermission. no one has seen tyler johnson in weeks. seth jones' ice time is an nhl record by several months.

the refs have decided that falling asleep is a penalty now. bolts get a powerplay after zach werenski falls asleep waiting for a breakout behind the net. the equipment manager replaces nikita kucherov on the powerplay after he's caught trying to escape during intermission.

victor hedman is interviewed after the period. "pucks deep, 110%", he says. the announcers are begging him to stop this madness. "pucks deep, 110%", he says, as he walks to the locker room. john tortorella doesn't want to talk about the game. he just wants to yell at dubois.
