“We take issue with them coming in here when none of them are from Englewood,” said an Englewood resident who asked the protest to disperse. #ChicagoProtests
“When they leave, the police are gonna be pulling us over, pulling our kids out of cars,” said the resident. #ChicagoProtests
“No one from the North Side or Indiana should be coming down here to protest,” said Darryl Smith President of Englewood Politcal Taskforce. He noted that he does not work with BLM Chicago. #ChicagoProtests
“There’s not gonna be no rally, there’s not gonna be no protest, go do that shit where y’all live,” said another resident. #ChicagoProtests
The message was made clear tonight by some residents of #Englewood: protest in your own communities. #ChicagoProtests
Young people have now taken over the protest, reigniting it with chants here in #WestEnglewood. #ChicagoProtests
A young woman was chanting, “Whose streets?” When a middle aged man responded with, “Bitch, this is our streets,” which lead to verbal altercations. #ChicagoProtests
“What the fuck, I live here too,” said the young woman who was leading the chants here in #WestEnglewood. #ChicagoProtests
Younger and older Englewood residents are battling for control of the protest. #ChicagoProtests
“We’re young, we’re the future, let us have a turn,” said a young man. “You called a 17-year-old Black girl a bitch.” #ChicagoProtests
Young protesters are now chanting, “Black lives matter,” here at 63/Loomis. #ChicagoProtests
The protesters are now countering each other, one group denouncing the CPD, the other seeking to quiet them. #ChicagoProtests
“Who keep us safe?” Chant the younger protesters. “We keep us safe,” here in #WestEnglewood. #ChicagoProtests

A group of protesters is now marching south on Loomis, chanting. #ChicagoProtests
Onlookers are chanting with them, “Black lives matter.” #ChicagoProtests
“If you’re here for all Black lives’ liberation,” said @heyo__tayo. “Make some motherfuckin noise.” #ChicagoProtests
“We fed the fuck up,” say the protesters who are calling for the defunding of CPD. #ChicagoProtests
The protesters here at 64/Loomis just thanked protesters for coming out. There are two very different discourses taking place tonight in #WestEnglewood. #ChicagoProtests
Protesters are wrapping things up. Asking people to not leave alone.
Protesters from earlier who asked people to leave, drove to 64/Loomis and honked and attempted to drive through the protesters, but they stopped the car and now standing and clapping in front of it. #ChicagoProtests
Protesters are now chanting, “what side are you on my people, what side are you on? We on the freedom side,” at the other protesters. #ChicagoProtests

Organizers are now asking protesters to disperse and ask that they not leave alone.
