Today we are talking about an issue that is so common in network security and so common in life it’s probably already happened to you and it’s called social engineering.
Social engineering takes place when someone is trying to get you to do some thing or give up some kind of sensitive or critical information through pure unadulterated deception. You don’t even know its happening.
The most common type of social engineering that I’ve seen on social media is phishing and phishing takes place when someone sends you an email or DM trying to get you to click a link only to later use it as a way to hack your social media account.
Social engineering even takes place as it relates to politics. As social media is a hotbed for both influence and groupthink - politicians have been found to create false narratives and use bot accounts to comment and create outrage or appeal. Social. Engineering!
Watch this LOL. How safe are YOU really???
