I don’t really care what leftist label you put on me — I’m a progressive. Social Democrat. Democratic Socialist. Whatever. I’m left of the majority of the Democratic Party. I enthusiastically supported Elizabeth Warren in the primary — ended up voting for Bernie Sanders (1/6)
because Warren suspended her campaign before my primary. I support a progressive platform and want the party to move to the left. That being said, among the names that were being floated as possible choices to be Biden’s VP, I believe Kamala Harris was the best choice. (2/6)
She has the most progressive voting record of any senator, save for Warren (they’re virtually tied) — she has a 100% rating from Planned Parenthood, and is tied with Warren and others for the best voting record according to the ACLU. These are all huge pluses. (3/6)
And last, but certainly not least, I very strongly believe that the Democratic Party ticket should always feature at least one BIPOC candidate. They are the bedrock of the party and an all white ticket will always strike me as a mistake for the party that (4/6)
is supposed to be inclusive. Dismissing it as identity politics is easy for a white person to do, especially a white male, as we have *always* been represented. Senator Harris deserves this and I believe she has the potential to be a great Vice President. (5/6)
I thought about saying nothing either way. I don’t want to get mass unfollowed. But I think Harris is the best of all of the front runners, both in terms of qualification, electability, and what’s right for moving the country forward. (6/6)
