How come theme parks exist in a strange bubble that seems to be allowed to get away with themes that have been called out since the mid 2010s when they’ve been used as like...Halloween costumes for example? Is it because less people have noticed or we just don’t care as much?
I’m talking stuff like...a Mexican themed land. Like if you dress as a Mexican for Halloween and you’re white it’s cultural appropriation but a theme park can build an entire ride or land themed to it and nobody bats an eyelid? What is the differentiating factor?
Not trying to be like THIS OFFENDS ME genuinely just interested to see if there’s a reason as I’ve looked into it a few times and always come up empty. S’interesting, yknow?
