Kamala, a Black woman, a South Asian woman, an HBCU grad, an AKA, for VP — and let’s be real —future president. History.

I’m all about evicting the occupant of the White House. I’ll be voting the Harris ticket — but I also want folk to be careful about assuming every Black and South Asian is rooting for her based on her identity alone.

And many things can be true at once. We can want to unseat the occupant of the White House, vote for Harris, and also talk about her prosecutorial past, too.

And let’s not do that Biden thing where questioning folk Blackness over their adversion to his ticket happens. Folk wanting more radical change is not wrong and unseating the occupant of the White House is one step on a very long road of necessary change we need to march.

Lots of convo around race + Kamala Harris... lots of fervor rooted in ownership that wasn’t here last year. Yes, Kamala is mixed with South Asian. Acknowledge that. But, again, many things can be true at once: Kamala is Black. It’s ok to say that without a whatabout to follow.
