"My children are doing relatively well," says Byrd-Primos, who has three teenager daughters. But, she says, "I am worried about children who have experienced abuse and neglect." 3/
Byrd-Primos says that her daughters have "protective" factors that contribute to their well-being, like connections with their faith/pastor and their family.
She says her oldest daughter, in college, is learning to make friends in new ways in the virtual space. 4/

Woodley says @kcpublicschools has gone from 8 clinicians supporting students in 35 buildings to 18. "And then came #COVID19," she says.
District tried to reach out to every family and identify the ones they couldn& #39;t get in contact with. 5/

Woodley says though the district has been able to pivot to telehealth, she still worries about not being able to look into the eyes of a child and know that something might be wrong. 6/
Eden worries that the debate around reopening schools has focused too much on the risks from #COVID19 and not enough on child well-being. He& #39;s worried about reports that students are going missing without regular contact with schools. 7/
@bshelly has written extensively about the impact of evictions on students and families, most recently for @kcur & @hechingerreport: https://www.kcur.org/_preview?_cms.db.previewId=00000173-c09c-de53-a3ff-efbcbedc0000&_date=">https://www.kcur.org/_preview... 8/
Of course, Jackson County Health Department now recommending against reopening schools in-person.
"We& #39;re in a situation in the metro area where really everyone should be staying home," Logan says. He says metro needs to pull together to get students back to school. 9/

"Anyone who does not have a low level of depression right now is not living in reality," Logan says. We& #39;re living through a once-in-a-century global pandemic/recession. "We need to extend ourselves a little bit of grace to deal with it." 10/
