Honestly the most egregious part about that press call is not the fact that they skate around questions, or even that they mute you after you ask the question. Nah, the worst is that professional journalists get on there and ask questions that have zero value to our communities.
We wonder why people ain't subscribing to news publications and lament about how Trump is turning the people against us. Meanwhile we have journalists from our city's largest publications asking about how different working in Chicago is compared to Dallas.
I must know @JeremyGorner @chicagotribune, was the question "Why was the response to a press conference different in Chicago than in Dallas," really the most important thing y'all could come up with after a weekend where a dude was shot by police without any evidence provided?
After the city cut off access to downtown, inconveniencing millions in an effort to protect the business interests of a few, @fspielman of @Suntimes could only come up with a question about how the mayor plans to convince the millionaires that live there not to leave the city.
Seriously? I'm only addressing people directly cause I feel like people have a right to know what kinds of questions are being asked of our city officials by journalists whose job is to keep them honest.
It's sad g. These the 2 biggest print news organizations in the city and this is what we get out of them? Until we begin challenging our fellow reporters to do better work, I don't want to hear nobody asking why people not willing to pay for it.
