Here’s 2 activist icons Malcom X & Stokely Carmichael speaking on what was really happening to black people during & after the civil rights revolution & is still happening. Credit to TheStanColumn on IG for these clips, info & captions. This is a thread btw.
Our activist icons have been trying to tell us & educate us since forever ago. Now let’s get into this thread.
This is Malcom X speaking at the Oxford Union Debate in 1964 regarding the Supreme Court refusing to enforce the law of black ppl having the right to vote. Black ppl were beaten, kids murdered in front of them, men sexually abused, towns destroyed as a scare tactic (cont.)
to force black people to vote for the Democratic Party. Why do you think there’s such a long history of black people voting for Dems only? It’s almost as if it’s an obligation. They destroyed black families & neighborhoods to get our votes. Now they tell us (cont.)
“If you don’t vote blue, then you ain’t black.” Notice Malcom X says it’s not the KKK attacking black people, it’s the police. They were hit men for Dems in a way. Everything they did was in the name of Dems.
Stokely Carmichael aka Kwame Ture was a prominent Trinidadian organizer in the civil rights movement in the US & the global Pan-Afrikan movement. Born in Trinidad, he grew up in the US from age 11 & became an activist while attending Howard U.
Here he is giving an interview in 1976 speaking on organizing black ppl & starting their own political party to fight Dems. “Though they tried, they crushed, they did everything they could to stop the ppl. They organized the independent political party & they gave it the (cont.)
Symbol of the Black Panther.” -Stokely Carmichael. Embrace & learn our history. Take control of our education. Teach it.
