Ngl kinda shook at the overall lack of response from the #MedTwitter community in relation to the despicable narratives that the media and gov are portraying atm. The exact same thing happened in response to the BLM movement a few weeks back.
White med twitter continued chattin bout their specialities & cats while Black med twitter was tryna highlight the racism that remains rife in the NHS.The same is happening now, when we ALL need to be talking about the Human Rights violations that r occurring & have been for yrs
Migrant health is a topic that is so confusing because of the complex policies that the gov implemented viathe hostile environment. The fear of charging& the lack of transparency regarding the sharing of data between the NHS &the Home Office leads to barriers accessing healthcare
As HCP’s or future HCP’s working in a healthcare system that claims to be for everyone, we have a duty to highlight the blatantly racist &anti-immigrant narratives that the charging regulations create. It has & does lead to premature deaths& prolonged pain & medical complications
I’m not sure why I just wrote “highlight it”, we need to highlight AND dismantle it to ensure free access to all forms of healthcare for ALL
