I was thinking about this tweet, and it occurred to me that not once, *not once*, in all the time that I've been on here has anyone, despite never having trained in or practised law, told me how I should do my job as a barrister. https://twitter.com/skicrampons/status/1292794978259927041
Nor, for that matter, has anyone:
Abused me simply for being a barrister.
Told me that all barristers are lazy, racist, stupid, incompetent or corrupt because some barristers are, or have been, those things.
Told me that I'm lying when I explain what I do in Court.

Judged me on the basis of misconduct by other barristers years before I even qualified.
Expressed strong opinions about how barristers should handle specific situations in Court, despite never having been in that situation themselves.

Thought it was useful or fair to criticise how barristers work in this country on the basis of how attorneys work in the US.
Expressed pleasure or indifference at the idea of barristers being assaulted at work.
