The whole point of the Biden campaign, and this particular moment in American history, is that the particular people involved are less important than a structural commitment to remaking the American federal government to meet the challenges of the coming era
It doesn& #39;t matter who the vice president is if there& #39;s no rebuilding of state capacity, rooting out corruption, and institutional redesign
None of these people are my first choice, and they& #39;re less important than stocking the federal government with several generations& #39; worth of civil servants who can rebuild it into something with resilience, competence, and a commitment to long-term planning
If Biden wins and doesn& #39;t do that, or doesn& #39;t win, it& #39;s all irrelevant anyway
