Divest from politicians and celebrity. They want Black people dead.

They will never bring us the freedom we want/need. Invest in people. Believe that people with the time, capacity, resources, and knowledge will organize and make a way.
Things to do while divesting from politicians

- Feeding people [specifically Black trans, queer, disabled, elderly]
- Housing people
- Intervening in violence in your communities
- Pushing back against criminalization
- Passing out PPE
- Blocking evictions by landlords
- Organizing your work place so workers have more power
- Supporting people who have not received unemployment
- Making phone calls for people who are incarcerated
- Fundraising for people doing mutual aid
- Learning about how violent this country really is so we can stop hopping for change under this capitalist system and how Obama presidency resulted in the increase in poverty for Black people

People who run for the president of the United States are not accountable to the people. We don't live in a democracy. Stop trying to make it happen. Stop trying to make politicians care about Black people. Spend more time getting us to care about ourselves and our liberation
It has been 5 months of Covid-19. Politicians on every level of government have collectively said "fuck you" no matter party, no matter how "progressive leaning" they are/were. The state will not save us and will always corrupt us.
At ever level of government, they have failed us. Even the most "progressive" politicians pushed to re-open governments, increase criminalization for houseless folks, refused to release prisoners, no rent relief, no drive through testing. Left niggas for dead.
I believe that in Black people.I believe in our collective imagination.I believe in our resourcefulness. I believe in the power of Black people. We deserve more than this world offers us. I'm not sure why it is naive to believe in people more than I believe in politicians but 🤷‍♂️
So many people willing to throw Black people away in service of politicians. So many more people are gonna continue to throw Black people in service of politicians. Many more people will be radicalized to divest from politicians and the illusion of democracy in the U.S.
What an amazing opportunity to expose the contradictions of the state and create more learning spaces for Black people to be politicized and exercise self determination!

Investing in elections is demobilizing and limits our imaginations.

Let’s dream and take care of eachother
Many more Black people are against the state than they are for the state. Many more Black people are/will be open to the possibilities of anti-capitalism and anti-imperialism. How do we cultivate that and how will we organize to ensure we all know what we’re up against?
How do we affirm more young Black people’s distrust and divestment from these political systems? How do we create more space and time for us to get to this collective understanding despite the liberalization of our movements?
If we truly believed Black people can/will be free, how much more of our imagination could we tap into? What would we be willing to try? What would we be willing to risk?

If we knew this state wants us dead, how much more time would we spend thinking + learning with eachother?
Don’t let anyone convince you that starting something small today is insufficient.

Don’t let anybody lie to you about the power for Black people is up there and not amongst eachother.

Don’t let no one dismiss the importance of organizing to build power *with* Black ppl is 🗑
