To those who might puzzle over seeing Harris as an Asian American candidate... Harris has spoken powerfully about her Indian heritage and how it has connected up with the Black civil rights movement through the example and work of her mother. [2/n]
She made a lot of headway among Asian American donors and supporters alike in the course of her presidential campaign, and we will likely see a lot more engagement in the months to come. [3/n]
Finally, many Americans need to recognize that Indian Americans like Kamala Harris are part of the Asian American story. My research with @JLeeSoc indicates that many Americans (including Asian Americans) do not think of Indian and Pakistani Americans as Asian American [4/n]
This will be an important educational moment for America, as we learn to fully include South Asians, including multi-racial South Asians like Harris, in the Asian American story. [6/6]
Another interesting note: If Biden/Harris win, she would be the 2nd VP ever from California. The first? Richard Nixon. (thanks @josie_huang for asking me that question)
