i want lan sect elder wei wuxian. i want him wearing dark blue. i want him teaching. i want him being the favourite teacher who does in fact follow most of the rules when he's older, but still is known by breaking basically all of them and being the reason for a lot more.

lwj still holds the aura of an untouchable, endlessly respected - having held the chief cultivator title - probably the strongest lan elder. still in charge of discipline, but he's not unreasonable w/ it. he also allows feelings to be shown, always encourages it and questioning.

wangxian having dual cultivated as partners for years... fighting together seamlessly, occasionally still night hunting for fun. how could anyone ever reach their level??!
wwx has loads of studies and books he's written and conducted, and an endless supply of inventions.

at some point they probably learned spells and tricks and other things from each other. imagine wwx knowing some top secret lan techniques that haven't seen the light of day bc of some complications with them, and wwx solves the problems in question

like oh this super secret thing hidden in a singular book in the forbidden section of the library (wwx has access to everything now), and wwx will find that book and then with lwj they'll manage to make it suitable to be used by the disciples

and then? the studies on his own, fourth path.. his notes eventually get polished enough to be used in teaching, and lwj is the one who wants to take responsibility for the quality of the teaching and who is taught what (at what age, what do their own disciples learn vs guests)

in order for lwj to understand and teach, wwx would tell lwj about resentful energy. it isn't even that risky bc they've worked so hard to create tools/spells to make harnessing it easier. technically, lwj would end up dealing so much with it that he too could use it a little..

but he usually never uses it in battle. he just has the technical knowledge to know wwx better and the way he uses it. also, if someone somewhere in the world struggles with their (odd type of) cultivation, they could request help from wei wuxian personally.

i just need this immensely strong and wise wangxian power couple trope where they both are regarded very highly and respected and listened. and wwx taking it seriously, although his cheerfulness, passion and mischief never leaves him.

i've said this before in another thread but make them so op that the could take lives with single notes of their instruments. but they won't. and truly that's not something they've chased to learn - it just happened on its own with their level of cultivation

and no one in decades has seen them in a real battle. thankfully. the disciples would love to, but lwj and wwx will fight for peace for as long as they just can. take precautions to stop corruption and shit.
in the end, the only equals they have are each other.

as a teacher, wwx would hold all kinds of crazy interactive lessons. he takes it very seriously. sometimes he has too much fun with it, so that the lectures extend and their trainings just drift off track bc the disciples keep asking things..

one would argue that wwx is supposed to have a plan for a course of some sort, but does he ever follow through with it? the disciples know that lessons with senior wei are never the same. and they get wild stories out of them.

wwx is also encouraging questioning. lwj does too, but he's still not as talkative as wwx. wwx thrives when he's explaining and talking nonstop, he always has stories and examples ready to be used and shared. he holds discussion with the class, he always manages to draw them in.

lwj on the other hand is...well, the ideal teacher lqr would be proud of. he still shows an example with publicly following the rules and appearing as graceful as he just can, because that is lan wangji. it's just his nature, his comfort.

and then....adult lan sizhui. who is very skilled at discussing things politely. good in politics. he has learned a lot of skills from both lwj and wwx personally. kind of does make some people a bit jealous, but no one can bring themselves to dislike sizhui with the way he is.

sizhui would become very skilled at inquiry. lwj will never forget, but sometimes he realizes he hasn't been doing that in ages (bc they haven't been hunting). and. the years spent without wwx are suddenly so distant. and wwx is still here. with him. happy.

and wwx still smiles at him when lwj has his attention on him. wwx still kisses him and wwx still whines his name, lan zhan!! like he's always done when lwj seems to ignore him. wwx still nuzzles him from behind when lwj stands atop the waterfall, gazing at the valley.
