followed an acct for political updates n such and they just lately been transitioning into v*gan articles that. miss the point when it comes to global emissions/use of resources. like yeah cattle take a lot of resources but >
there are ways of doing so more sustainably or providing feed that reduces emissions. like switching to strictly plant-based ag is STILL gonna be shitty if its monoculture and/or in environments they're not meant to grow that take a lot of water, or use harsh pesticides
not to mention like. both meat and plant ag industries suffer from bad treatment of employees in terms of safety and pay. you cannot sustainably do ANYTHING without addressing the nuances of the issue
right now, the best thing you can do is source meat and plants locally. find a local butcher if you prefer meat, and find a local farmer/market. find a person that sells their excess chicken eggs. heck, find a friend with too much fish/venison in their freezer if they hunt/fish
no one industry is without its sins and the root problem is capitalism and its desire to exponentially grow with the maximum output without care for repurcussions in the environment + the workers, not eating meat. if u wanna reduce emissions look at corporations first, not ag
looking back at this thread i should add that if you try to shame people for Not sourcing locally, not eating healthy or not ~going v*gan~ when they live in poverty or in a food desert i get to personally come to your house and donate all your food to a food bank
