I'm taking an indefinite break from @FliteCastSPORTS because everyone is losing their damn mind over the Big Ten cancelling fall sports. I love football, but if the NCAA and our own government are unwilling to spend resources to keep people safe, you can't play ball. Period.
And let's be clear, there are 2 big issues here. The first is how horrifically the United States has openly ignored COVID-19 on a national level. Over 5 million infected because we can't get on the same page across the country. That's genocidal.
The second issue is that at any point in time, if the federal government wanted to build a unified plan, or if the NCAA wanted to make it as safe as possible for kids to play, they could do it RIGHT NOW and get it going safely and we'd all be happy, but they won't do it.
The reason they won't do it is because they're clinging to their old school ways of corporatism and are too greedy to spend money now for bigger gains later. They'd rather let things fall apart now and downsize their workforce later when it's all over, and WE get doubly screwed.
But we're so dumb as a people, you can't get us to understand that collectively. I got people acting like they're doctors quoting numbers about why they should play and how its iron clad that COVID-19 doesn't kill anyone under 30, which is beyond false.
And then more people that cite inflated numbers, bad testing and slanted reporting as reasons to call the whole thing a hoax, as if the 167,000+ dead are all crisis actors sitting in a spaceship waiting to go to Mars for the rest of their lives. It's insanity.
I've said before that this whole thing is a giant clusterfuck and it's going to kill us in two stages. First with the virus itself, and second with the financial depression we will be mired in for years even after multiple vaccines are released. Both are inevitable now.
COVID-19 has exposed ALL of the frailties, weak spots and corrupt loopholes of our way of life, and it has put a spotlight on them for the world to see, which is why we look like the absolute dumbest country on the planet because we can't get out of our own way.
And I am tired of suffering fools and idiots who refuse to see this. People that are so stubborn and thickheaded that they will literally risk their families lives just to go to a concert or watch a football game. People who don't see the truth about what our society really is.
IDC if people think I'm on a soapbox here, I'm venting. This was all preventable. If we don't vote Trump in 4 years ago, the CDC Pandemic Response Team still exists, they confront COVID-19, we have a national plan and we lead the planet in pandemic response as THE model example.
Instead, we're here, toiling in a world filled with emboldened white supremacists that refuse to wear "libtard face diapers," dressing up like Bane to buy a gallon of milk at the grocery store, and fraying our nerves every time we cough or sneeze, fearful we might have it.
So seriously, angry sports fans: Go kick rocks. It'd be great if everyone could do bubbles like NHL and NBA, but like everything else the corporate masters tell us we can't have, it costs too much. So fine. I got plenty to read and watch until science saves us all per usual.
And to be clear, science WILL save us. Thanks to the greed of Big Pharma, we'll have 2 to 3 vaccines available between end of this year and beginning of next year, and then we can start moving forward in a world that will now always have COVID-19 in it.
But until that happens, I'm glad to be a geek with a long list of crap to watch and read to distract me from not being able to see Michigan lose to Ohio State for the umpteenth fucking time, because at least that's a safer bet for all of us right now.

End of line.
