From 1778 to 2017 there were 296 people elected to statewide office in #VT. Only ELEVEN of them were women. 2/

100 years ago this month we ratified the #19thAmendment dictating that people could not be refused the right to vote based on sex. But suffrage was incomplete 3/

Because voting laws were left to the states, many women - including #BIPOC women - did not enjoy full suffrage (don’t make that joke about suffering) until the 1960s. NINETEEN SIXTIES, People!! 4/

TODAY women of color, Native American women, poor women, women without stable housing, women with disabilities, women without drivers licenses, women who work double shifts, etc etc STILL have trouble accessing the polls in disproportionate numbers 5/

Women make up more than 50% of the population. Women are gravely underrepresented in govt. The countries who are all doing the best in the #COVID crisis? Led by #women 6/

I’m very tired of hearing/saying “well I’m not going to vote for her BECAUSE she’s a woman”. Why not? 7/

I say that for the next 242 years, we should only be allowed to elect women. Majority #BIPOCwomen. Then we’ll be even 8/
