The case is suffering from sticky plastic syndrome, the case is really gross and is in ok shape. This give me the opportunity to change the color and have the bright neon case I have always wanted!

So for cleaning I like to go with this lot if I’m looking to paint the thing in the end. I like to start the parts with a bleach spray for a min or two to try and really break up dirt before moving to the scouring powder.
Update - don’t use goo gone or any acetone based cleaner it looks like it’s mildly dissolving the abs case.
But the scouring powder is working perfect and the top paint layer is coming off easy.

It’s going to take a few passes so go slow and don’t use a tone of pressure let the scotch bright work slowly so not to gouge the plastic. It’s going to look a little weird as you go but don’t stress.
After that wash them again with dish soap and rinse well. Buff the surfaces dry to remove anything that might have been missed.
At this point you could clear coat it and keep the original color but we’re not going to do that at all.
