Kent’s 19-year-old batsman Jordon Cox who scored 238* against Sussex in only his 5th First-Class game has been dropped from the next championship game.

Reason: Cox agreed to be photographed with young fans thus breaching the social distancing norms
Strange reasons to miss a match:
1)WG Grace kidnapping Billy Midwinter from the Australian dressing room at Lord’s to get him to play for Gloucestershire at The Oval in 1878
2)Aaron Finch missed the IPL game for GL v MI in 2017 as his kitbag didn’t arrive in time before the game
3) Andrew Symonds was dropped v Bangladesh in 2005 (which Australia lost) as the all-rounder had broken the team protocol on the morning of the match
4) Graham Gooch missed the 1993 Chennai Test v India after having a prawn curry on the night before the Test
5) Geoffrey Boycott was dropped after scoring 246* v India at Leeds in 1967. The reason was he batted slowly — 555 balls & 573 minutes
6) Kapil Dev was dropped from the 1984-85 Kolkata Test for possibly getting caught at long-on in Delhi when India were trying to save the Test
7) Roy Gilchrist was one of the fastest WI bowlers ever. He bowled an occasional Beamer which was a dangerous delivery. WI skipper Gerry Alexander asked Gilchrist not to bowl it but the pacer did & he never played for WI again
8) John Snow had a collision with Sunil Gavaskar (who fell down) in the 1971 Lord’s Test. Snow, the Ashes hero of 1970-71, was criticised & dropped for disciplinary reasons from the next Test at Old Trafford
9) Jofra Archer was dropped from the Old Trafford Test v West Indies & sent into self-isolation for breaching health protocols while travelling from Ageas Bowl in 2020
