I need to vent because I’m very upset.

UNT doesn’t care about the safety and health of students, faculty or staff. They have the power to find a way to enforce a face mask mandate, but they are choosing not to.

They think it’s fine because they have a contact tracing program

But it has already been covered by the @ntdaily to not being effectively run. And the university refuses to provide free testing for all.

UNT is going to have an outbreak and they will not be prepared to deal with it.

It was never safe to open campus they just needed the $$$

I think it’s ridiculous that officials who do no spend time on campus get to determine policies that they consider “safe” for those who have to be on campus.

Also, allowing the differential tution rates that were set back in Fall 2018 to stand? Not a cute look either.

I think it’s gross that universities across the nation are profiting during a global pandemic while pretending that their “safety policies” are effective.

The best option was to keep campus closed. But at the end of the day higher education is a business.

The fact that so many changes had to be made to make campus “safe” proves how unsafe it is to reopen campus.

No one is getting hazard pay. But so many have no choice but to risk their safety and health for others because they need to pay rent.

@MeganBitchell wrote an amazing editorial about how little UNT cares for its student employees and that is already on full display with the disregard for any employee’s health and no pay if they contract the virus at work.

My on-campus job as already had to cut operation hours and only one of us can be working at a time. This means that no matter what my supervisor does none of us can pay rent with the hours we will receive and that is not their fault. The university should be protecting us

But instead we are being asked to be “health ambassadors for the campus.”

I have said it once I will say it again.

Do not thank us when we are risking our health to serve the institution that is profiting off of us.

The worst part about all of this. Is that the university with either
a). Revert to essential services & remote learning only
b). Frantically try and brush an outbreak under the rug
C). Shut down completely with zero refunds.

At the end of the day everyone. Remember. Big education only cares about your money and their reputation.
