You should know that Mia Khalifa is an actual, blatant fascist who has the Lebanese equivalent of the swastika tattooed on her wrist.
This is the symbol of the Lebanese Forces (ouwet), a far-right phalangist militia-turned-political party. They have committed genocide against Palestinians, and countless other massacres, during their "golden days" as a US and Israeli-backed death squad. https://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/lb%7Dlf.html
You might think that this an old photo that is not representative of her current views. Unfortunately, you would very wrong, seeing as the photo was posted two days ago as part of a charity auction in the wake of the current crisis and recent disaster in Lebanon.
According to an interview with Newsweek in 2015, she got the tattoo some time in 2013 to show her presumably ouwet father "I'm on your side."
As an aside: I'm not aware if her father is known to be former leadership, but 1) he is from southern Lebanon and 2) he emigrated to the US in 2000 after the retreat of the brutal Israeli occupation of southern Lebanon and collapse of their puppet South Lebanon Army.
You might now think that this is an old tattoo that is a relic of old insecurities, maybe related to her publicly tumultuous relationship with her father, and is unrelated to her new, vaguely "left" and "woke" message. Aspects of this might be true, but it is not the story either
Initial hours after the blast at Beirut port (marfa'a), Mia 1) blamed Hezbollah 2) retweeted Saudi state propaganda (Al-Arabiya) that blamed Hezbollah for the blast without evidence. Later, she 3) cheered Macron's intervention 4) celebrated Israel's PR gestures as "monumental".
Let's be frank. It's absurd to think that someone could keep the ouwet cross tattooed on their wrist for years, back the political lines of the ouwet, and flaunt the ouwet cross tattoo in the middle of Lebanon's biggest political crisis in decades, whilst *not* being fascist.
P.S. This thread is *not* a defense of the Lebanese government nor is it a defense of any political faction in Lebanon. They're all anti-communist shit, and as communists we should all find it gross that Twitter "MLs" claim communism but stan Iran, Syria, and Hezbollah.
P.P.S. You can't be a feminist and a fascist. If you have to this point upheld Mia as an an icon of women's struggle, I hope that you can recognize this. And I hope, as I would with anyone, that she disavows the ouwet and fascism and addresses this matter publicly.
