Making a tweet thread on the debate surrounding Zomato's decision to offer 10 extra leaves to women, which has been explained in this blog post on the website https://www.zomato.com/blog/period-leaves
First, let us analyze how many days employees actually end up working. Out of 365 days, we have 104 (52 weeks x 2) weekend holidays. Then there are customary 10 public holidays. Then let's assume there is a total of 25 additional leaves (casual leave + sick leave)
Thus, an employee would end up working 365 - 104 - 10 - 25 = 226 days. With the 10 additional leaves, granted to women, they would end up working for 216 days instead of 226. Thus, on average, men would end up working for 4.62% more days than women in a year.
If we assume that productivity is uniform on all days for all employees, that would mean that an average male employee would generate an average 4.62% additional revenue than an average female employee, purely on account of working for more days.
