While the current state of college athletics is very up in the air, I cannot help but think about what this means for everyone involved. I have seen A LOT of people expressing their opinions one way or another about if we should have sports this fall.

1/
There are people in support of #WeWantToPlay and there are people who think we should save these young men and women from themselves.

Of course I have my own opinion on the matter, but that is not important right now. What is important is the people.

2/
I work in Athletic Academic Support; many see this as support for the student-athletes. I am here to tell you that my role is so much more.

We (as a society) are worried about the student-athletes if this season gets cancelled.

3/
While I am truly concerned for the student-athletes, I am also concerned for the coaches. As an industry, we are moving in the right direction as we help these young athletes navigate their own mental health. But during these tough times, we cannot forget the coaches.

4/
Men and women across the country have devoted their entire lives to coaching, training, and supporting these young men and women during their collegiate careers. If we do not have sports, that decision will impact more than just the athletes.

5/
Let's not forget about the Athletic Trainers, Operations Staff, and Strength and Conditioning. College athletes spend enormous amounts of time with these individuals.

I could go on and on about all of the amazing people who work in college athletics.

6/
But today I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge all of the hard work the coaches and support staff do day in and day out for these young men and women.

We tell student-athletes, “You are more than an athlete."

Today I am here to say..

7/
Coaches: "You are more than a coach.”

Athletic Trainers: "You are more than a trainer.”

Operations: “You are more than the DFO.”

If we do not have college sports, remember who you are at your core. Remember why you started coaching, training, etc., to begin with.

8/
Mental Health is so important and finding your identity outside of your sport/job/title is paramount to your overall wellbeing.

As Athletic Academic Support, we not only support the student-athletes, but we also support our coaches.

9/
Remember why you started.
