police are taking advantage of the rm1,000 mask fine. today, my cousin visited my house while my parents and i were away. she took out the trash and while she was by the gate, two policemen approached her. (cont)
they asked “whose house is this?” my cousin answered it was her uncle’s. they asked “what are you doing here?” she said to take care of the house while my family was away. all of these questions are none of their business. but they persisted.
they asked her “what do you work as?” and she said she’s unemployed. she wasn’t wearing a mask because why must she? she’s taking out the trash and the house is empty. upon hearing she’s unemployed, they left her alone. no money to pau mah!
with that recent case of the kid getting fined just because his mask was hanging from his chin but ehem certain powerful people are getting off scot-free, we know where the priorities lie. how awful yet unsurprising.
since this is getting some attention, i just want to remind everyone to wear your mask in public at all times. but know your rights. there’s no need to wear it at home, that’s just ridiculous.
my cousin comes to my house every week. she comes over to bake, she comes over during raya. she is a familiar face. nobody would call the police on her, everyone minds their own business. please lah...
police cars patrol my neighbourhood sometimes. its also because they like to eat a restaurant nearby. it’s not uncommon for there to be police but it is uncommon for them to ask such questions to a person coming out of their own house.
muting this. you can choose to believe whatever you want, but please don’t be too trusting of the authorities. they could take advantage of you. know your rights and stay safe.
