For as much as I want to blame Smash Mouth, it's worth noting this concert was held at the Sturgis motorcycle rally, which the city refused to shut down despite townspeople's protests at bringing 250,000 mostly unmasked folks to the city. https://twitter.com/NME/status/1292856954516373507

The concert appears to have happened at the Buffalo Chip campground, which is at least a completely outdoor venue, making the virus less spreadable. Much of the rally involves indoor gatherings at bars, ad hoc stores, and restaurants. Much less safe.

Sturgis refused to issue a mask ordinance for the rally, fearing the hit to the town's economy that would have resulted from canceling the rally.

As always, the true culprits are short-sighted governments who prioritized the economy over the people.

Smash Mouth makes an easy target, but they're a low-level boss.
