To all the uni applicants out there.

If your chosen uni is not willing to look at you as a whole, to look at you within the context of your circumstances (particularly within the current circumstances of an unfair and ill-thought out system), then that uni does not deserve you.
As Higher Education providers, we have a duty to not set students up to fail. But to base admissions purely on exam grades is archaic and reductive.

Contextual admissions is not a new concept, but there are HEIs out there that are a little slow on the uptake.
Higher Education should be about seeing a student’s potential and nurturing that. Not about closing doors because they don’t meet x, y & z, or guessing future chances of success based on the information gained from the period of a few (very stressful) exam weeks.
