Hi there! I recently graduated with my masters degree (great timing, right?), and I& #39;m looking for a job in publishing! I& #39;m pursuing production and editorial careers, and would love to work with an independent publisher. [thread!]
I have 2 degrees in Writing, Rhetoric & Technical Communication from JMU. My research focus is accessibility in digital genre spaces, coursework included editing, publication management, genre writing, online design, digital cultures, ethics, grant/proposal writing, and more!
I currently volunteer with @strangehorizons as an Accessibility Editor and with the Development/PR team (I am incredibly proud to be part of the SH team, y& #39;all). I read (so many!) amazing stories, write tons of emails, and research anything and everything someone asks for!
I also work with @SkiffyandFanty, the lovely folks who first welcomed me into the SFF community with wide open arms and lots of wonderful advice. If I wasn& #39;t so busy, I swear I& #39;d be on more podcasts

And I& #39;m a bookseller! I work at my local comic shop @secretlaircomic and at a chain bookstore. My favorite things are recommending books to people and getting more parents to buy graphic novels for their kids (yes, they& #39;re real books, please just let them read what they want!)
seriously throughâif I didn& #39;t have student loans to pay off I& #39;d be a bookseller forever, it& #39;s one of my favorite things in the world. But I love the behind the scenes work that goes into publishing and getting books to stores and readers more, and I want to do those jobs!
I have experience editing fiction (short stories, novellas, and novels), and nonfiction (articles and essays, research and thesis papers, manuals and handbooks, podcasts), and I& #39;m an excellent note taker (for real, every job listing ever says you have to take meeting notes).
I have published/presented/been accepted to present on work ranging from cross-cultural mythology and storytelling, accessibility studies of popular digital SFF magazines, craftivism and protest, the rhetoric of nuclear waste warning messages (it& #39;s interesting, I swear) and more!
In conclusion: hire me! Message me here or on my website, or email me at evansrebecca96@ gmail with work inquiries or questions. Thanks for reading! [end thread!]
