First off, WHAT IS HEALTHY?

Below is my rendition:

- Unhealthy: Doesn’t help with the body’s nutrient requirements. Has adverse consequence

- Healthy: Satisfies the body’s nutrient requirements. No adverse consequences.

How do vegetables stack up?
NUTRIENT DENSITY:

Animals are the ONLY source where we can get ALL our macro and micronutrient needs

This is why vegan's medicine cabinets look like a pharmacy

Yes, some vegetables are high in nutrients. But animal products are a better source of almost every single one.
For instance, next to beef liver, spinach looks like green cardboard.

Vegetables do not provide an adequate amount of many critical nutrients like:

- DHA
- Selenium
- Iron
- B vitamins
- Choline
- Carnitine
- Creatine
- Taurine
- Vitamin A retinol
- Amino acids
NUTRIENT BIOAVAILABILITY

In the case where plants are high in a nutrient, they have a form that is less bioavailable & less functional than the animal form:

K1 vs K2
Vitamin A carotene vs Vitamin A retinol
ALA vs DHA
Non heme vs heme iron
B6 pyridoxal vs pyridoxine
LA vs AA
WHAT ABOUT "OTHER VEGETABLE BENEFITS"

Another myth. These two studies below confirm that vegetables have no antioxidant benefit.

Whereas a ketogenic diet can upregulate glutathione and actually improve antioxidant status
Vegetables can help to contribute to nutrient requirements, but ARE NOT NECESSARY.

The same cannot be said about animal products.

And the problem is that many vegetables can DAMAGE your health.

DANGER OF VEGGIES

The icing on the cake – or the butter on the steak – for the carnivore diet is that vegetables are actually harmful to many people

Vegetables do not want to be eaten (shocker to all the Karen's out there)

They produce defense mechanisms to fend off predators
Almost every vegetable has a toxin in it that can be irritating. The table below summarizes some of the toxins that you can find in plants.
PLANTS PRODUCE THEIR OWN PESTICIDES

A 1990 study identified 27 rodent carcinogens in plants that are produced for self defense.

While many people think it's fine to eat organic plants because they don't have pesticides, they don't realize that plants produce their own.
PLANT DANGER #1: GLYCOALKALOIDS

Built in bug repellants, highest in nightshades like potatoes and tomatoes.

Glycoalkaloids like solanine are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors & disrupt all cellular membranes.

They've been shown to kill livestock & can irritate human guts.
PLANT DANGER #2: SAPONINS

Saponin isn't just a cool way to say hello to someone

Saponins are antinutrients and disrupt metabolism Saponins may interfere with the digestion of glucose, protein, and vitamins A, B12, D, and E.

Saponins also can increase intestinal permeability
PLANT DANGER #3: GOITROGENS

Goitrogens are foods that cause swelling of the thyroid.

For some muscularly inclined Neanderthals — i.e. bros — a swollen neck means CrossFit is working. However, for most of us, it’s not a good thing.

They're highest in cruciferous veggies
PLANT DANGER #4: OXALATES

Oxalates are salts — minerals bound to oxalic acid, that plants use as a defense mechanism.

Oxalates may cause issues such as:

Kidney Stones
Autism
Joint pain
Skin and eye issues
Fatigue
Gut issues

PLANT DANGER #5: LECTINS

Seeds are the most protected part of a plant because without protecting it a plant cannot pass its genes on. They protect them with lectins.

They've been linked to issues like

- Autoimmune diseases
- Depression
- Insulin resistance
- Obesity
This likely happens via leaky gut.

Two of the most damaging lectins are gluten and wheat germ agglutinin (WGA).

The gluten fear is annoying, but warranted. WGA is less well known but as dangerous.

It's also in the bran, meaning whole wheat is worse for you.
PLANT DANGER #6: PHYTIC ACID

Phytic acid is an antinutrient, blocking mineral absorption.

Phytic acids steal nutrients from us like iron, zinc and magnesium

PLANT DANGER #7: FIBER

Fiber is the carbohydrate portion of plant foods that we can’t digest.

Fiber is a HUGE source of gut problems.

In thus study below, you can see that there is zero occurence of digestive issues when fiber is removed .
There is absolutely no reason to eat vegetables.

Animal products provide all of the nutrients you need in their most bioavailable form. And they remove all of the inflammatory vegetable components.
