Ghost Teller (webtoon) final thoughts/review: a thread

"Humans still say that ghosts are the scariest beings on earth, but we still think otherwise"
First of all, I want to praise this webtoon for having a good perspective about human nature. Despite it being a story told by ghosts, the stories actually captures reality and how disappointing humanity at times (actually, a lot of times)
The author weaved the story so well that every story leaves me in shock and deep in thought. Good endings aren't always bright and glimmering. The endings are frustrating at times, but it's not because it's poorly written. It's because I know that that's just how reality works.
In reality, it's not always a happy ending. More often than not, it's bitter, unfair, and sad.
The concept is kinda unique and has a lot of potential. Even though they clearly ended it on season 2, the author can always come back for a new season and bring out new ghosts and human stories (or maybe it's just me wanting more 😭)
Season 1 and Season 2 has their own charms. I love how these collection of stories are tied in one plot so beautifully.
The stories from Season 1 showed how humanity failed the characters. S1 ghosts told stories about how ugly and disappointing humans can be. How too much happiness can fuel madness, how too much love can bring unnecessary sacrifices, and how the world continues to spin++
even though how unjust it has been to you. This unfairness that S1 ghosts have experienced may have caused them to become restless spirits that needs to undergo the grim reaper guy's therapy. They were tormented by the stressful memories of their past lives.
I also love how they pointed out that there's no exact good nor evil.
As for Season 2, the concept of desire is clearly emphasized. It's a part of human nature to desire things no matter how trivial or majestic it is. But even the smallest desire can be a seed of sins. And since it is a part of human nature, it means committing sins will continue++
to happen. Sins will never cease to exist as long as people reach for what they desire. S2 ghosts probably carries a heavy burden of regret. Regret for committing sins for their desire. We can't fully blame them though.
idk but i'm still hung up on the first story. if the grim reaper is indeed the husband, it appears like despite how his wife ki//ed him because of her insecurities, he still love her. he never resented her. all his life, he truly loved her, not caring abt her looks or anything-
he just loved her for who she is. it makes me sad how tragic it is. she was so insecure. her anxiety drove her mad. she asked for happiness but she was afraid of losing that happiness and thought that it was fake even before being actually happy
srsly, i'd do anything to have someone look at me the way this guy looked at her, someone who thinks of me as someone important, someone who just loves me for who i am. AHHHH SRSLY IT'S SUCH A PITY :<
at the end, grim reaper guy sent all the ghosts in afterlife except for the vampire doctor. somehow, the burden that he bears can't be lifted that easily i guess? selfishness that made him break his principle as a doctor. but can we really blame someone who had always put others+
first who wanted to become selfish just once along the way? well, maybe being selfless is the fate of doctors. it's their oath to put human lives first. the last story especially made me feel a lot of things as someone who will soon be in the medical field. if i were put in that+
place, will i be overcame with the same selfishness? idk it feels like the vampire doctor still carries that regret that's why he can't cross over for countless years, regretting the decision he made. and he died at the hands of people who had the same thoughts as him
that or maybe he still loathes humans. maybe he couldn't cross over because he still couldn't accept what has happened to him?
it was an enjoyable and insightful read! i'm glad i peeked into it. i was quite hesitant at first because i thought it's just about the usual ghost stories but it's not. i hope more people would check this webtoon out. i couldn't even start off with how beautiful the art is
now ending this thread with a panel of the grim reaper guy's first smile. he was either serious or stressed the whole series so this panel is something to be saved~
