~THE ROAD TO TOXICITY~
- i will be enumerating things that propels a fandom to toxicity ( and yes my campaign against is still up)
- i started on stan twt year 2017 but that was because i was allowd to have a twt but i knew the whole community since then
1. SIZE OF THE FANDOM
- i kno lmao but yes the number of stans in a fandom determines its likelihood to become toxic. The bigger the fandom, the higher chances of accumulating prospects- more subjects for the toxicity to spread.
2. MAJORITY INFLUENCE
in relation to size, the majority influence of a group has greater calls on what should be the norms and beliefs of the group. If Group A (the majority) tells Group B( minority) that it's fine to do this then chances are the minority will follow.
3. Cohesiveness
- this the degree of oneness and sense of us in a group. The higher the degree of cohesiveness the lesser room it is for the radicals (or those who beg to differ and question the majority's thoughts) which leads us to...
4. Groupthink
-this is a phenomenon wherein the group reaches a consensus without critical thinking. in other words they are thinking as one but blindly. like a hive mind but they are not radical. LITERAL zombies. This aimless thinking and belief of the group further leads to...
5. Pluralistic Ignorance.
- now there may have been people who didn't succumb to the groupthink. they knew that the majority is wrong but publicly they act and move along the current bc the numbers is comforting nd they are afraid to be singled out bc of hving a different outlook
FINAL PRODUCT- GROUP POLARIZATION
- this is what the fandom/ stan twt is all about.

- "occurs when discussion leads a group to adopt attitudes or actions that are more extreme than the initial attitudes or actions of the individual group members." (iresearch, n.a)
didn't catch that one?
- in simpler terms, polarizing is synonymous to opposing. since we have become so "one", when another fandom tells us something we dont believe we fire back. thus, the polarization.
If they tell us something we completely dont believe, then they are deemed wrong. If we express opinions that are different from them, then we are deemed wrong. If u look at it outside there is no point in arguing or negotiate. Because the groups/fandoms have become entitled.
And when u look at it as a part of a fandom, there is nothing but endless fighting and denials in both ends. No moral grounds, and people are in any way close-minded. They argue, they loathe, they become prideful.
And this is an aspect u let to play a part in ur life? Becoming one of the clowns as we like to call it? Cheers to the fandoms who remain toxic free. And to those who are starting to deteriorate, try to be better- rectify ur faction.
We shouldn't let the stan twt community thrive at the expense of losing our sense of being sensical. We are not raising circus. Until everyone understands that this thing is real- then everything can stan kpop and be a part of community that's healthy
PEACE.
Btw i forgot, all i was rumbling about is bc of group dynamics topic we had at 12th grade and i remember it kinda works on stan twt as well. So yeah it makes so much sense if u apply what u learn on real life encounters.
