why the word j*p is a slur, a thread;
i’m sure most of us know what happened in World War ll, but if not basically there were tensions between the US and Japan, and then Japan bombed Pearl Harbor which is located in Oahu, where i’ve lived my entire life. the reason why japan decided to target Pearl Harbor in a
surprise attack is because many US ship’s were located there. A total of 2,403 people were killed, 2,335 of them being military personnel’s and 68 civilians. There were 1,143 people wounded which includes the military personnel and civilians. There were a total of 55 Japanese men
killed. This war lasted for 6 years from 1939-1945, The bombing of Pearl Harbor happened on December 7th, 1941. During this time, many Americans were worried that Japanese Americans were ‘spies’ which led them to hold Japanese Americans in concentration camps. There were a total
of 10 camps which held over 127,000 Japanese Americans while my grandfather who was a child at the time had to work on the plantation in Honolulu while some of his relatives/family were being held in these camps. At the time one-third of the Hawaii population were of Japanese
descent. Many of their jobs were taken, my step-grandmother’s family company which was extremely successful was also taken. However before they were sent to the camps, they were put in Assembly Centers which was a temporary housing before they got transferred to a permanent
Concentration Camp, however these Assembly Centers weren’t mean for people to live in, but were formerly horse stalls and cow sheds. Many events happened in the War, their was a situation which involved the Japanese Army doing absolutely disgusting things to women which still
scar them to this day. It was an extremely disgusting and terrible thing done, and their way of ‘apologizing’ was $800 million which is unacceptable because no amount of money will fix the damage they have caused to these women. However I am not one to speak on the subject
because it is not my place. On August 6th-9th, 1945 a tragedy took place, the US detonated two nuclear weapons over cites across Hiroshima and Nagasaki, around 111,000-210,000 people were killed and many were wounded for months/years and faced after effects.
In a summary of it however, he was supposed to go fishing with his friend but his mother made him do his homework first which most likely saved his life, however his best friend who was most likely at the fishing spot beforehand has not been seen by the survivor after the attack.
The river they planned to meet at was near where the bombed dropped. He still feels guilty for not being able to fulfill his promise. On that day he remembers seeing a bright flash of white light.
A peace treaty was later signed.
How does this connect to the slur? J*p was used as a derogatory term and the US used it as propaganda against Japanese Americans.
if you ever visit the Hiroshima, Nagasaki, and/or Pearl Harbor memorial, please pay your respects.
please spread awareness about this and thank you so much for taking your time to read this. I’ve seen people use this slur way to often and it’s understandable if you didn’t know because i don’t know if they teach people about it at school.
in advance, i apologize for my spelling errors
