I keep seeing arguments from both sides about the demographic make up of LTNs and to be honest I'm tired of it.

The fact is the levels of traffic we have now are too high. Black or white, rich or poor, disabled or able-bodied -- the current traffic level is unfair on everyone.
Rather than arguing about where traffic should be redistributed we need to start *actually* reducing it -- for everyone.
That's why LTNs are such an important piece of the puzzle. They don’t just close one road so traffic diverts elsewhere — they create strategic networks that encourage walking and cycling over driving.
Instead of squabbling over the borders of LTNs we need to ensure Councils make decisions based on what will have the greatest impact on *reducing* traffic overall -- for everyone in the community.
We need to push for more LTNs, bigger LTNs, tighter restrictions on parking, more cycle infrastructure on main roads, CPZs that favor bike parking and car shares -- anything and everything that actually reduces the number of cars on our roads.
Measures like these are the only way we’re going to reduce traffic, and reducing traffic is the only path to a fairer society.

We've got to keep our eyes and our attention on the real enemy - traffic, congestion, air pollution, car dependency - instead of turning on each other.
