1. You will read a lot.

Thank God, Google search costs $0 (sort of?)

So, feel free to Google it out! We're doing the same! 😁
2. You will be dragged in 1m different directions!

The legal, marketing, compliance, support etc teams will need you to "take a quick look at..."

Prepare to be versatile but also learn time management skills.

It could save your life!
3. You will get more feature ideas/suggestions than you could possibly build.

Learn to prioritize!

What you DON'T build is as important as what you build.
4. Support is not an afterthought- build with support in mind

In building any product or feature, plan all the way to how you intend to support that product/feature.

You will spend a good part of your time supporting your products/features than building new ones.
5. Learn to ask questions!

Question everything.

As a product manager, the questions you ask are more important than the answers you provide.

Ask why.

Then another why.

And another...

And another...
6. Prepare to get out of the office and talk to customers.

Your ideal source for new products/features ideas are your customers and potential customers.

Talk to them (but know that the ultimate decision lies with you!)
7. Document Your Journey!

Write about your experiences, mistakes, lessons, etc.

You will learn more by writing (& publishing your stories)

Medium is FREE. LinkedIn is FREE.

The world wants to learn from you too!
