A thread:
Over the years working with registrars on audits using #PROMs data, I& #39;ve learned a lot.
1) They are not taught about PROMs in med school
2) They may/may not have used PROMs data before
3) They often don& #39;t really understand PROMs data even if they& #39;ve used the numbers
4) They may/may not LIKE doing audits and therefore may want to only do a basic project or might be keen to do something in depth
5) They may/may not have had a full discussion with their consultant to find a #PROMs audit that is both useful and interesting to BOTH parties
6) They often do not (know to) ask the #PROMs team what data is available, in what details or what quantity
7) Some need more guidance and interaction than others (generally those asking for more get more from the data as they understand more, and they produce a good report)
8) They may/may not remember to acknowledge the #PROMs team in their final write-up (most consultants do check this though)
9) They may/may not remember to send final report, any abstracts submitted, and posters/presentations accepted to the PROMs team. (Please do; rude not to!)
10) Everyone benefits from these audits, including patients! They are worth doing well.
11) Registrars become consultants in time, and #PROMs will become an increasing part of their work so a good understanding will generate ideas for the future.

So my tips....
* #PROMs team: Discuss, share, guide and chase as needed!
*Consultants: Choose audits wisely according to need, data available & registrar& #39;s interest! Engage PROMs team early to assess requirements.
*Registrars: Be honest about interest, ask for help, send final report. Enjoy!
The #PROMs team is always happy to help.
