A six-string THREAD on #Clearing2020. As an experienced University Admissions Tutor, I can't help feeling that it would have been better had we all just gone with teacher's grades, submitted back in the spring. 1/6
Yes, they might have been a bit on the generous side but then that could have been offset, for example, by universities sticking strongly to their grade-offers rather than flexing for those who just missed. #Clearing2020 2/6
There might on the other hand have been a lot of individual appeals by pupils who hadn't put much effort into their mocks; but then there would have been a few months to handle those between the spring and summer. #Clearing2020 3/6
Of course, 'we are where we are', as they say. But it probably wasn't beyond the wit of (wo)man to foresee the extremely tricky situation we're all now in. Still, we'll do our best, as per. #Clearing2020 4/6
My only hope is that this somehow leads us to make the more radical move in future years to post qualification admissions. But I'm not holding my breath, obvs. #Clearing2020 5/6
Whatever, good luck on Thursday everyone! #Clearing2020 6/6
