The shoe tying scene from Eupho S2 is brilliant! It perfectly encapsulates Asuka's hatred towards being put on a pedestal. Kaori ties Asuka's shoes for her as if Asuka is some sort of deity and Asuka's darkened, unhappy face implicates she despises special treatment. (1/6)
Can I just mention this shot here? So fucking brilliant! The shot is angled slightly up at Asuka while Kaori's head is below, giving Asuka a sense of power, but this power isn't something that Asuka desires and thus her demeanor is that of frustration and unhappiness. (2/6)
This sort of treatment can cause one to feel trapped, especially when they aren't completely outward with how they feel or want to be treated. I think the bars here create an interesting prison imagery where Asuka feels like she's trapped and being constantly idolized. (3/6)
Haruka hit the nail on the head earlier when she mentioned how Asuka wasn't special, she's just a person who was idolized to the point where she was perceived as someone more special than she actually is while Asuka had to maintain to that image to appease people. (4/5)
Just because someone doesn't complain about a position they're put in, doesn't mean that they like it. Asuka had many reasons to maintain this role, one of the biggest reasons is maintaining band morale which lead into more complex reasons like wanting to meet her father. (5/6)
There's a lot to Asuka's character that I've yet to analyze but I hope to delve deeper into her character in the near future or after another rewatch! She's honestly one of the best in the show ^_^ (6/6)
