For newly inducted pharmacists, there are a couple of things I wish an OG told me regarding the waiting period, internships, and NYSC.
If there's enough interest, I'll drop the thread at lunchtime.
I left Rx school in 2013, and though some things have changed since then, most other things have remained the same.

Lack of internship placements.
Poor Locum salary
Confusion on the way forward.

I will use this thread to share my experience, to help guide a YP out here.
After graduation, comes the famous internship.
From the final year, we were all looking forward to earning millions and living our best life as Rx Interns.
Reality soon sets in, however.
Limited placements.
Nepotism.
Rejected applications.
Confusion. Frustration.
There are different classes of Internship Centres,
ranked in order of their net pay.

Federal Govt Institutions (NAFDAC, NIPRID, Teaching Hospitals, FMC etc)
Military Institutions
State Govt Institutions
Private owned Institutions (community Rx, Industry, etc)
Currently, there are over 400 accredited internship centres in Nigeria, and I have listed them down and working to get the payment info too. https://twitter.com/RxMakuo/status/1272872464180273156?s=20
My advice, if you will listen,
Start.
Fast.
look for centres close to your location and start applying.
Do not spend two years at home waiting for the perfect internship placement.
If you are not seeking a career in regulatory affairs, why are you waiting for NAFDAC?
Stop worrying so much about the extra 20k that they're paying in FMC. Your time is much more valuable than that.
If you are privileged to come from a comfortable home, pick a lower-paying internship if it means you don't have to wait a year at home.
FOR CHRIST SAKE DO NOT DO INTERNSHIP TWICE!
There is absolutely no reason to do an internship twice. That's hustling backward.
Can get you in trouble, and shows a serious lack of foresight.
Go fast, go once.
Keep going.
If for any reason you want to wait for a juicy but competitive FG placement, make sure you're not idle.
Learn a skill. Graphic designing. DJing. Digital Marketing. Baking. Weaving. Basket Making. Locum. Repping. Whatever just make sure you don't waste that time being frustrated.
When you finally get the internship,
Please do not steal drugs.
Be vibrant and active.
Learn as much as you can, and make friends with your senior colleagues.
Save your money and try not to buy a car. (lol)
If you want to leave the country, start preparing.
Make sure you tidy up any issues left from pharmacy school like certificates, transcript, and statement of result.
If you want to rep, start making friends with reps.

Start planning for NYSC, be strategic about where u want to serve. some states don't pay at all (Rivers State)
Some pay more than others (Delta)
Some have opportunities for a well-paying locum (Lagos, Abuja)

Before NYSC I heard you now have to write and pass a PEP exam.

Study for it, and pass it.
No shaking.
Finally, stay connected.
