A 2016 CAUTIONARY VOTING TALE/THREAD...
i had plans to be out of the country for the tail end of the election cycle in 2016. so, i knew i’d need to vote via absentee ballot.

a couple weeks before i left, i shlepped to a government building on varick street and picked up my ballot.
but two days before i was leaving, when i sat down to do the deed, i realized i had an APPLICATION for an absentee ballot. 
FUCK.
so i concocted a plan. my absentee ballot was sent to my mom in LA.
she fed-exed it to me in Australia. (i know).
i filled it out. stuck some crystals on it. and then fed-exed it from sydney to my VF editor in nyc who made sure it was postmarked in time.
(don’t even ask how much this all cost)
i returned to nyc in december. sorting through a massive pile of mail was one from the board of elections.
“WTF,” i thought!
MY VOTE DIDNT COUNT because i didn’t sign the envelope.
