Besides the obvious on brand crookery and corruption of Alberta’s UCP government in @CharlesRusnell and @JennieRussel’s story this morning, PRIVATE SURGICAL FACILITIES LIKE THIS ARE A BAD IDEA.

A highly placed person in their own government said so. Guess who? (Thread) #ableg https://twitter.com/UbakaOgbogu/status/1292806624894005249
Ralph Klein's Bill 11 in 2000 allowed private surgical facilities in the first place. At the time, Law Prof @CaulfieldTim warned "the Bill will create more problems than it solves."

A NOW HIGHLY PLACED UCP GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL AGREED. Who could it be?

BTW Caulfield et al also had grave concerns about transparency of government contracts with private facilities [holy f was he ever right] but we know you came here to see receipts so no more teasing.

K so who in the UCP thinks private surgical facilities are a bad idea?
IT'S NONE OTHER THAN OUR HEALTH MINISTER, TYLER SHANDRO, who vehemently disagreed with private surgical facilities.

Many of you know @youngshandro disappeared last week from Twitter, but we tracked the scent of beer and axe body spray and boy oh boy it's an embarrassing trail.
Tyler Shandro wrote [poorly] about Bill 11 on March 9, 2000 in @GauntletUofC. One rare coherent sentence read:

"The problem with allowing private clinics is that their inefficiency will cause more stress on the publicly-funded health care..."
He went on: "That means longer waiting lists not just for them, but across the board. Health care will be more expensive for everyone supplying it."

Who ARE you, Shandy? An NDP proxy? [HT all the dipshit issues managers]

Will the real Ty Shandy please stand up? [HT @EdmJon]
This part is eerie. He criticized this underhanded strategy in 2000, and then uses it as a playbook in 2020.

1. Create a crisis
2. Force a "solution" with bros
3. Cha. Ching.
Interesting aside. In the article, young Shandy mocks the $300,000 the Klein “propaganda machine” spent to send copies of Bill 11 to Albertans mailboxes. Dang if Young Shandy knew what they were gonna do with that shitty B-team "war room" 🙄
You could say Shandy was just doing a little point/counter debate exercise like university students do. You'll see from his other published works [we promise you'll get to see em] that's just not the case.

Q: "Maybe he's grown/changed since then?"
A: Google "Shandro driveway"
What’s different now is Shandy has different [vital] partners with some selfish intere$t$. He’s not standing on principle. He knows this is bad for your health care. Not his concern. His bros are.

Like he said in his article: "It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure it out."
