I've been subjected to relentless abuse and criticism over the past number of months.

There's a human being behind this screen and I am not doing that great.

Let me tell you a few things about me, seeing as so many people seem so interested.

Those tweets were part of a thread I wrote on the role of racism and misogyny in the deaths of Mia O' Neill and Ana Kriegel. I try to personalize my threads, but am aware it can read very self-centered.

I mean well. Read it if you want to. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1184238222274170881?s=20
My general worldview before the pandemic was society has enormous capacity to enact good in this world and we don't always need to look to government to do it for us.

Some change needs legislation.

Kindness and compassion does not. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1184238243136593922?s=20
I tweeted a lot about my mental health, oversharing sometimes - ok a lot - about my battle with depression and suicide attempt but I wanted to try inspire others who are suffering that it's gonna be ok.

Keep your head up. It'll get better. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1184238247473491968?s=20
Oversharing is a theme. I would talk to friends, except I have none.

I wrote this about my dad's final days and my regret on how selfish I was in wanting him to keep fighting to stay alive, when his body was failing him. I still torture myself over it. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1196703871223115776?s=20
If I see any tweet where someone has died, I always reach out to the stranger and tell them I'm there for them anytime, night or day, they might need me.

Anonymity gives me the confidence to do this. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1246348572704100352?s=20
I used to enjoy Twitter - when I had no followers.

I liked writing threads celebrating immigrants, championing the wonderful diversity we have in Ireland.

I was happy this got traction, because it amplified wonderful people, a thread I'm proud of. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1134803010784301057?s=20
This is roughly how I feel about Ireland. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1134803123590053888?s=20
I wrote this thread, through tears, to defend immigrants, when that beautiful baby girl drowned with her daddy trying to cross the Rio Grande in search of a better life.

It is an image I will have imprinted in my mind forever. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1143729741926731776?s=20
I routinely amplify efforts to stop any deportations from Ireland.

My not very nuanced opinion on the subject is when you give people a chance to shine in life - they might just take it: https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1232022695728099328?s=20
Politics wise, I was an early and consistent supporter of AOC, from before she got elected, who is wonderful and has only me to thank when she inevitably becomes President :) https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1245532996255522818?s=20
The abuse I've received in recent months stems from the fact I think Ireland are doing very well in a global pandemic.

That's it. (And we are.)

I'm probably not equipped to handle it but I don't think I deserve it either. I don't think anyone does. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1292944395122225153?s=20
A politician took the time to talk to me in April and was so nice to me, and probably helped me from doing something very stupid.

That'd be Sarah Holland, SF. She didn't have to do it but she did. Whatever you think of her political views, there's a character reference for you.
I never cared about all these political squabbles, I cared about Ireland getting through this.

Ireland has done excellently this pandemic.

Simon, Leo, Dr. Holohan, Dr. Glynn, Paul Reid, Micháel, Stephen Donnelly, everyone involved in that - thank you and keep it going.
We've tested 13.6% of the entire population for a new virus in under 6 months. Nobody stops to think of the logistics and hours so many thoroughly good people put into that.

That's a war-time effort in a time of peace and should go down in history as a display of Irish progress.
No child has died in the pandemic in Ireland. Thank you for that, ICU teams.

To dismiss that as nothing would be to ignore the caskets lowered into the ground in Brazil, Germany, USA, Peru, Mexico, Ecuador, Yemen, Bolivia, Colombia and many others.

Small ones. Made for a child.
That 2,231 figure is the combined NISRA and HIQA estimate. It may be revised up a little.

As things stand, fewer people died on this island than died in flu season 2018.

That's no small feat of solidarity from Irish society facing down a relentless novel virus.
Ireland are my team in all sports.

They are my team in life, too, especially during a crisis.

I will support Ireland in a pandemic no matter who is in charge, that's a choice I am happy with. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1185757838146228224?s=20
Supporting them does not mean I am blinded by a flag in my eyes. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1185757841396850688?s=20
Doesn't mean I will lose my voice for those who have no voice. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1272574938419953664?s=20
Doesn't mean I won't criticize when I feel we mis-step. https://twitter.com/Care2much18/status/1255573681784446983?s=20
That's me.

I focused on encouraging Irish society because I know 5 million have the collective power to stop Covid19. A dozen politicans do not.

You're all doing great.

I am not.

Wash your hands, remember to rewash masks, cough into elbow, 2 meters.
