I also have MANY thoughts on Post Partum Anxiety, Depression, Weight Gain (or absence of loss)

They DO tell you how little sleep you will get as a new mom.

They DONT tell you how little sleep impacts every area of your life.
Sleep deprivation causes SO MANY of the post partum symtoms I’ve seen women deal with.

First off, little sleep produces the stress hormone Cortisol that is correlated with weight gain/obesity

Stress hormone is correlated to anxiety and depression
Little sleep equals hallucinations, brain fog, fight and flight, maladaptive behavior, paranoia, increased appetite, etc.

This all creates the cycle of symtoms surrounding post partum.
I don’t think the period after pregnancy is destined to leave a woman depressed or anxious.

(Not downplaying the diagnosis or presence of symptoms)
*these are my thoughts*
I whole heartedly believe that women who not only have strong verbal support but SHARED responsobilities have better outcomes after pregnancy
I believe that specifically male partners of present can do a better job of sharing roles and responsibilities.

Taajas dad has done a great job around this even if it was received with reluctance.

I will say that a lot of this had to do with me ADVOCATING FOR MYSELF
I see too many women ESPECIALLY in business succumb to “I’m the mom dad does what dad wants to do”

I see too many moms struggle with babies screaming and yelling on zoom while dad is on the other room.
While I do not struggle with this (normally) because Taajas dad and I have a system of work on/off days where we alternate I’m tired of seeing it and I’m ready to open the conversation about it.
It’s impossible to erect boundaries in business if you can not/will not erect them in your own home.

To my lady bosses. ADVOCATE for yourself.

To the men at home. Grow the hell up.

-end of thread for now-
Also, all if this was said assuming the partner is present.

This also applies to non het-norm couples. Plug and play where necessary. You get my point.
