Bronson says he believes that in-person learning should not take place this upcoming semester, citing medical evidence and significant risk of transmission not just to students and staff, but their families.
"What I come back to is the health situation and not wanting to expose this community to the risk fo significant transmission," - Bronson. "I can still where we might do some limited face-to-face work with the youngest children....
...but with respect to the rest of our student body and our community, I think it's just too early."
Trustee Teresa Schreiner says she also does not support moving forward with the reopening plan and face-to-face learning. She says she's concerned about increased spread of virus as a result of schools reopening.
"We need to bring the danger down in Great Falls before we move forward with face-to-face learning," - Schreiner. "(But) timing is an issue more than anything."
Trustee Jim Gray now speaking in favor of adopting the plan. Clear split here among the board, still no vote yet. "I'm a bit more optimistic on Great Falls," - Gray. Now he's talking about the power of local officials to make decisions for their own jurisdictions.
"It's not if people are going to get sick, it's a question of when," - Trustee Gordon Johnson. He says the reopening plan is "excellent", and he supports it, citing the importance of face-to-face interactions between students and teachers.
